The most important piece for this project is the element of peer supports. We recognize that many Albertan families want to hear from other families who were just like them, who have encountered the same problems and struggles. We also feel it’s important for the families looking for guidance to understand what supportive parents look like through the eyes on LGBTQ2S+ youth in Alberta.
Across supportiveparents.ca, you will see quotes from LGBTQ2S+ youth and their families. These quotes were submitted via surveys we have been conducting online. It is our hope that hearing the voices of families who have been on this journey and who have faced challenges and triumphs will inspire, encourage, and guide other families across the province.
