There are many exciting happenings in Alberta for parents and caregivers of LGBTQ2S+ youth. There are more programs than ever before and we hope we see this trend continue, as we believe it is vital for parents, caregivers, and families to have access to supports. Our Resources List is continually updating regularly with programs and events across the province, so feel free to check it out!

Alberta, we have compiled a short highlights list in this blog post for you to
check out. This is not an exhaustive list, of course, but just a sample of what
is available in various parts of our province.
EDMONTON
Queerflex is offering a 45 minute yoga-inspired group class for gender creative kids ages 5 to 10 called Gender Creative Kids Movement Group. The cost is on a sliding scale from $50 to $100 and is happening Sundays at 10 AM in May on the 12th and 19th as well as in June on the 2nd, 9th, and 16th. More information HERE!

FORT MCMURRAY
TransFormations* is a group for parents, caregivers, and families of transgender and gender diverse youth to share their experiences and support one another. It is in Collaboration with the Skipping Stone Foundation and is facilitated by a registered psychologist. The next dates are May 9th and June 19th from 6:30 – 8:30PM.
Calgary Centre for Sexuality is now offering a support group called Gender Creative Families. It’s for parents, caregivers, and families of gender creative youth up to age 14. There is also childcare available! More information HERE.

LETHBRIDGE
YQueerL Society for Change has a Parent Social Action Group which offers workshops for parents of transgender and gender non-conforming children. It aims to empower parents to be advocates for their children. It’s at the Lethbridge Public Library from 2-4PM on bi-weekly on Sundays. There is free childcare, snacks, and transportation costs are reimbursed! More information HERE.
